The Importance of Art
"Tax dollars should not be wasted on art, music or theater classes in high school. Public high schools should be about training young people to enter the workforce. Period."
The statement "tax dollars should not be wasted on art, music or theater classes in high school, and should be about training young people to enter the work force" is completely false in my option. As important as it is to train to enter the work force I believe there can be a happy medium. Art, music, and theater are all forms of self expression, and as a teenager self expression is a huge part in creating who we are. Not to mention a large amount of people enter a work force that uses some form of art.
If it is decided that tax dollars would be used for only training there would be a huge lack of drive from students. With no art programs there would be no school plays, art shows, or concerts. In addition the arts have an extensive effect on social life. They allow you to make friends and create memories that will last a life time. Additionally just like sports, these art programs give you various opportunities for college scholarships, which further help drive students into great careers.
